Open directories carry unscreened listings alongside screened ones, and free classified sites carry almost nothing else. The signals that separate a real profile from a stolen one are consistent and cheap to check.

The photographs

A stolen profile almost always uses professional images: even lighting, styled hair, a shoot rather than a set of photographs. A genuine listing usually contains a mixture, including at least one picture that is obviously ordinary.

A reverse image search finds most theft in under a minute. Stock photography, fitness models and images lifted from social accounts in another country all surface immediately. So does the same face appearing under three different names in three different cities.

The contact behaviour

A working profile answers a telephone. A profile that will only communicate by message, refuses a short call before a booking, or answers with a different voice each time is not what it says it is. This is the single most reliable check available and it takes thirty seconds.

The rate

Rates well below the market are a warning rather than a bargain. The bands on British directories cluster between £75 and £150 an hour for a reason, and a profile at a fraction of that is either not the person in the photographs or is selling something other than what the listing describes.

Money before meeting

Deposits exist and are legitimate where an escort is travelling a long way. What is not legitimate is a request for payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, or a transfer to a third party, or a deposit demanded for an ordinary local booking. The convention across the entire industry is cash, in person, at the start.

The reviews

Invented feedback reads the same everywhere: uniformly enthusiastic, similar in phrasing, and posted in clusters. Genuine feedback is specific, occasionally lukewarm, and spread over time.

The structural answer

All of the above is why selection matters. A directory that interviews applicants, checks identification and takes profiles down when they misbehave is doing work that a client cannot do from the outside. It is the main practical difference between a screened listing site and an open classified board.
