Choosing where to advertise

Three models, and the difference is less about money than about how much work is left to the escort.

There are three ways to be visible, and they differ less in how much money reaches the escort than in how much work is left to him.

Hybrid arrangements exist: some directories are run by an agency and offer intake, coaching and profile writing alongside a subscription.

Agency

An agency selects its escorts, holds the client relationship and arranges the booking. The advantage is that clients arrive pre-screened and already reassured, which raises both the conversion rate and the quality of the booking. The disadvantage is dependence: the agency decides who is offered which booking, and an escort with no independent listing has no income if the relationship ends.

Agencies are also the better route for anyone nervous about the first few months. Having someone experienced to ask about a difficult enquiry is worth a good deal.

Open directory

The escort pays a subscription, keeps the entire fee, and speaks to clients directly. On the larger directories this is the standard arrangement in the UK. Subscription terms of six or twelve months are usual, and the reason given is honest: a new profile takes time to start producing enquiries, so a monthly term would be cancelled before it had a chance to work.

The trade-off is that everything after the listing is the escort's own problem. Screening, awkward enquiries, no-shows, scheduling and the emotional weight of dealing with strangers all sit with him.

Independent site

Total control, and almost never worth it as a starting point. A standalone escort site with no directory presence has no audience, and acquiring one costs more in time and advertising than a subscription does in money. It makes sense as a supplement once a client base exists.

How to judge an operation

  • Does it select?A site that accepts every application is selling listings rather than bookings, and a directory full of unscreened profiles is a directory clients stop trusting.
  • What does it cost, and in what form?A subscription is predictable. A commission is not, but costs nothing when nothing is booked. A joining fee that buys neither is a warning sign.
  • Who sets the rate?If the escort does not, he is an employee in everything but name and the tax position is worth checking carefully.
  • Who holds the client?Direct contact means repeat clients belong to the escort. Contact routed permanently through an agency means they do not.
  • Is there any support after the profile is live?Advice on photographs, on rates, on a difficult client. The operations that offer it are noticeably better to work with in the first year.
  • How is the profile removed?Every escort stops eventually. The removal process, and how quickly images actually disappear, is worth asking about at intake rather than at the end.

Advertising more than one place

Common, and sensible once the first listing is producing. Two directories cost roughly twice as much and produce more than twice the enquiries, because the audiences overlap less than expected. The administrative cost is keeping photographs, rates and availability consistent across both, which matters more than it sounds: a client who finds two different rates for the same man draws unflattering conclusions.

Free classified sites and general adult forums are a different category and behave differently. They generate volume, most of it unserious, with no screening on either side. Escorts who use them generally do so alongside a paid listing rather than instead of one.
